Street project preconstruction set to start next week; council hears resident and developer parking concerns

SEH engineer David Walter briefed the Thorp City Council on preconstruction for the upcoming street project and said the project is scheduled to start next week. During public comment, resident Wayne Lato asked for information on which trees will be removed for the project; later the council requested informational letters be sent to affected residents.
DPW Shackleton noted an estimate of $1,500 to survey the W. Prospect lot. Mayor Richard Wnek advised the city to avoid initiating a new parking-lot project to prevent additional related requests. Mitch Rice of Prospect Homes said machinery for the development has been delivered but weather has delayed construction of the back parking lot; Rice said shift changes currently create roughly 40 vehicles that sometimes park on adjacent streets. Council discussed employee parking but did not take action to fund or construct a new lot at this meeting.
The council also confirmed the city will inform residents about the street project, and DPW reported the pool pump failure on opening morning had been replaced later that day.
