Thorp limits septic haulers to one residential load per day starting June 15

The City Council on June 8 established new limits on septic haulers at the sewage treatment plant, approving a motion to allow each hauler one residential holding load per day beginning June 15, 2026. Hours for hauler deliveries were set at 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the practice will be subject to sampling; DPW Shackleton recommended purchasing cameras to monitor compliance.
DPW Shackleton told the council that haulers had been banned for the prior two months, which produced improved sample results. Council voted 5–0 to adopt the recommendation with implementation discretion given to the Public Works Director; the motion was made by Alderperson Abramczak and seconded by Alderperson Einhorn.
The policy narrows hauler access to residential holding only and links daily limits to ongoing sampling to protect treatment plant operations.
