With no owner or representative appearing to testify, councilors debated the compliance period, weighing a 30-day order against a more generous 90-day timeframe to account for possible medical or logistical constraints. Council members noted repeated instances where cleanup efforts were followed by renewed accumulation of debris.
Council moved to adopt a resolution declaring the property a public nuisance and directing the owner to abate the nuisance no later than 30 days from the date of the resolution. The motion was seconded and passed on a voice vote. The resolution directs staff to pursue abatement procedures under city code if the owner does not complete cleanup within the ordered time frame.
