A committee member presented proposed edits to the superintendent employment contract and told the board legal counsel had reviewed it. The member said the changes were minor "a couple of gender, phrases and, some dates" and noted the edits would not increase district costs; "this doesn't affect the budget," the member said, adding the approach reduces encumbrances by about $750 and that the salary in the agreement is "a 166,000."
The board discussed three specific housekeeping edits: changing references of July 7 to July 8 to reflect the current date, updating a pronoun on a specified line to "his," and correcting the page numbering so the contract reads 'page 6 of 6' rather than 'page 6 of 7.' The committee member also raised a residency clause requiring the superintendent to maintain residence in "Moscow County"; the Chair said they had no objection to leaving the clause unchanged.
The Chair then moved to approve and execute the contract and to hire Kurt Evan; the motion was seconded and members voted by voice. The committee member said the appointment is set to run through 06/30/2027 and noted the board will revisit the position on Dec. 15 when membership may change. The board recorded 'aye' votes and the Chair declared the motion carried.
