Superintendent: district recruiting an ELA teacher, preparing for new interim tests and launching three-year strategic plan

During the April 7 meeting the Superintendent reported the district is “actively recruiting a secondary ELA teacher” and has updated job descriptions to post on the employment page so applicants can see full role expectations.
On state testing, the Superintendent described the district’s response to Senate Bill 141: the district currently uses DIBELS for K–5 interim testing but will research the four approved interim assessment options, attend demonstrations and run a one-year pilot so that a recommendation can be made to the board in spring 2027. The Superintendent said, “We can still use DIBELS next year for K–5 reading,” while the district completes the exploration and pilot.
The Superintendent also summarized a recent survey of students, staff and families used to shape a three-year strategic plan. Early priorities identified through the survey include maintaining appropriate class sizes, strengthening core academic programming and expanding classroom interventions. An in-person participatory strategic-planning session is scheduled for April 23 and the plan is intended to take effect in fall 2026 and run through 2029.
