Representatives of the Lincoln County Water Systems Alliance presented the group's plan to develop a 50-year water-supply strategy and requested member cities share the cost of a contracted coordinator. The Alliance described its mission as protecting watersheds, reviewing supply options and securing funding for sustainable infrastructure countywide.
"The mission of the Water Systems Alliance is to review options and develop a 50 year plan and secure funding to establish sustainable water supply resources," an Alliance coordinator said. Committee members asked about governance and compensation; the Alliance listed a coordinator line at ‘‘10 hours per week, $52,000’’ in their draft budget and said that initial work may be done by a consultant or through a fiscal agent (Siletz Water Conservation District) before establishing an employee. Using Depoe Bay’s 2024 annual usage of 63,500,000 gallons, the Alliance’s $48-per-million-gallons formula would mean a requested contribution of about $3,048 for the coming budget year.
