RDA executive director reports progress on Mill On Main, corridor site and River Walk easement

The RDA's executive director gave an update on active redevelopment projects, telling the board Mill On Main and Corridor projects are leasing and that phase-two planning is under way. Staff said they are working with the Department of Natural Resources on environmental cleanup decisions and balancing remediation with development interest.
"We keep working with the DNR on some of the environmental cleanup," the executive director said, describing staff's deliberations about how aggressively to pursue remediation before marketing a site. The director said one developer remains tentatively interested in an available corridor site while the Chamber had selected another location.
Staff also said language for the Merc Marine parking-lot project is still under negotiation and that legal staffing shortages have slowed progress, although the item has been pushed higher on the priority list. The director said the city is pursuing a future easement for the River Walk in case a partner property changes hands, but the River Walk alignment will not change now.
The director noted the city will continue supporting leasing and amenity requests (for example, a statue and dog park) and that the daycare at Mill On Main has produced useful community contacts for workforce support.
