Commission confirms $6,000 available this fiscal year for summer events

Parks Commissioner (S4) summarized the budget timeline, noting the city's budget committee is scheduled to meet and that the commission historically sees adoption of the new budget in mid-June: "It will be approved at, well, there's a budget meeting on Monday, which is when the budget should be approved that day."
Participants also reviewed requests for the next fiscal year, including a $27,000 commission request and a $20,000 line item proposed for planning a salmon bake. The group agreed they would proceed with low-cost parade procurement now and defer larger commitments until after the budget committee's meeting and formal council adoption.
Next steps: staff will confirm whether items can be encumbered from the current $6,000, and the commission will revisit any purchases exceeding current-year funds after the budget committee acts.
