Commissioners reported limited secure storage for Parks & Rec equipment and discussed options including sharing a storage unit with the Fleet of Flowers nonprofit or renting an independent unit. One commissioner noted prior work to secure a larger private unit for the Fleet of Flowers and suggested cost sharing.
Staff cautioned that access and safety are constraints when considering public works storage. "The issue is access. So there needs to be unfettered access for public works at all times," the staff member said, noting that public works uses the bus barn daily and shared access could create safety and operational conflicts. Commissioners said they had requested a $1,500 storage line in the budget but would wait for staff to confirm whether the city would instead cover storage needs.
