Renee Baker, the City of Box Elder finance officer, presented Ordinance 776 on Oct. 21, saying the city adjusted its certification timing to comply with state deadlines tied to the updated budget schedule. "Our estimated maximum tax dollars that'll be available to us from Mead County is estimated for 2026 at 445,000," Baker said.
Baker said the certifications were submitted to county auditors by the Oct. 1 deadline. A committee member moved to approve Ordinance 776 on its first reading and forward it to tonight's city council meeting; the motion passed with oral 'aye' responses and was recorded as approved by the committee.
