Fleetwood board approves multiple special-education contracts for 2026–2027
Summary
The board approved contracts with Cottage Seven Education, New Story Schools (Perkiomen and Kutztown), and Empowerment Educational Services to provide special-education services at specified per‑day rates and optional 1:1 staffing charges for the 2026–2027 school year.
The Fleetwood Area Board approved contracts to secure outside special-education services for the 2026–2027 school year. Cottage Seven Education, LLC will provide services at $250 per day per student with transportation services at $475 per day; New Story Schools, Perkiomen will provide services at $395 per day per student plus $150 per day for 1:1 staffing when needed; New Story Schools, Kutztown will provide services at $485 per day per student plus $150 per day for 1:1 staffing; and Empowerment Educational Services will provide services at $256 per day per student. Each contract was approved on roll-call votes with eight ayes and one absence (Hersh).
Board members discussed and then voted on each contract in separate motions. The contracts secure outside placements and supplemental staffing for students whose needs the district determined required external services for the coming school year. The motions carried unanimously among voting members, and the board recorded the standard roll-call tally for each motion.
