Committee recommends MOU with Black Hills Children's Museum to begin planning Box Elder children's museum

Doug Curry, the city administrator, told the Finance, Legal and Public Safety Committee that the memorandum of understanding with the Black Hills Children's Museum sets out a "30,000 foot view" of responsibilities as the city and the nonprofit begin planning a children's museum in Box Elder. He said the document covers questions such as who would own property and how a lease back to the museum foundation could be structured and does not yet contain specific financial commitments or gift agreements.
"This is the first document we've put together in this endeavor to join forces with that nonprofit to try and, basically get the ball rolling and and get a children's museum built, here, in Box Elder," Curry said. The committee discussed the MOU briefly; the chair noted that one committee member, Mister Bridal, would abstain from the discussion. A motion to approve forwarding the MOU to a future city council meeting with a recommendation of approval carried on a voice vote.
