District counsel to send letter asserting Village of Estero owns road west of U.S. 41

During staff reports, District Counsel and other staff discussed a dispute over maintenance responsibility for the road west of U.S. 41 to the clubhouse. The minutes record that the Village of Estero’s stance is it does not need to maintain that road, while District Counsel Tony Pires believes the County is responsible. Mr. Pires said he will send a letter to the Village of Estero and the County’s counsel stating that the Village of Estero owns the road.
Operations Manager Shane Willis noted he had emailed Johnson Engineering documents to Mr. Pires on Nov. 20, 2024, confirming ownership information. The Board did not take further action at the meeting beyond directing counsel to send the letter.
