Board reviews Traffic Calming Assessment; radar signs and education planned

District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the Tier 1 and Tier 2 traffic calming strategies contained in the draft Traffic Calming Assessment 2025 report. Mr. Conway has begun education-based road, bicycle and golf-cart safety measures aimed at reducing risky behavior.
The minutes state that three permanent and one mobile speed radar signs will be delivered throughout the property in the first week of February, and staff reported that speeding violations have decreased. Eric Long asked Krebs to update Page 9 of the report to include the traffic study’s conclusion, and Board members were invited to identify other areas for study. Discussion also included posting 'Do not pass golf cart' signs at the front entrance and crosswalks, Pelican Sound Board bylaw changes under consideration, and resident outreach such as Safety Saturday events.
Krebs will advise staff and the Chair of locations for additional consideration and will incorporate requested edits into the report for the Board’s review.
