Oak Run residents urge River Ridge to address Lake 8 pooling and foundation risk

Rich Batterberry, a resident and NVR of Oak Run, told the Board that rainwater pools from the monument to halfway down Lake 8 and takes a long time to recede, and that residents are concerned the water may be getting under foundations. The minutes record that one resident incurred significant costs trying to mitigate water coming up through the floor.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the scope of work performed at Seaside and said the area there was never re‑graded initially; he suggested that completing work similar to Seaside could address the issues at Lake 8. Chair Bob Schultz stated the matter would be considered during the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process.
The exchange prompted staff to note a future capital consideration; Mr. Krebs was asked to obtain costs to replant littorals at other locations in the community and to include the Lake 8 work for budgeting and prioritization.
