Box Elder recognizes CID investigators after multi‑state trafficking investigation

Box Elder Police Department leaders briefed the council on a six‑month investigation that uncovered an alleged trafficking operation involving six young female victims and led to multiple charges against a suspect, including trafficking by force, fraud and coercion. Chief Connell (speaker 8) credited CID investigators and presented awards to investigative sergeant Josh Campbell and investigator Mike Cristal (Cristal was awarded the meritorious service medal).
Chief Connell said the investigation, opened after an initial assault call, identified a suspect who was arrested on multiple charges and later received a 24‑year confinement sentence. "You brought the suspect to justice and potentially saved the lives of 4 young women," the chief said when recognizing Investigator Cristal. The council thanked the department and the recognition was recorded on the meeting minutes.
The chief also noted the department and CID received an award from the Midwest Organized Crime Information Center (MOSEC) for outstanding cooperation and performance in law enforcement; no policy action was requested of the council.
