Council approves MOU with Black Hills Children’s Museum after presentation

Presenters from the museum updated the council on governance and programming, saying the nonprofit has adopted 33 of 43 policies and is building associated procedures. The presenters noted new board members — including a representative for Ellsworth Air Force Base — and outlined event fundraising and a planned soft capital campaign beginning in January. One presenter pointed to branding changes as part of outreach: “we have a new logo,” they said, explaining the redesign was meant to make it clear the organization is a children’s museum.
Councilmember Davis moved to approve the MOU and authorize the mayor to sign. The motion passed on roll call; the council recorded one abstention. City staff and museum leaders said they will continue to develop operational details and bring follow-up items back to council as required.
