Consultant and planners present Vision 2050 update, adoption targeted this summer

County planning staff and consultant Envision presented the Vision 2050 master plan update, describing extensive stakeholder outreach, a future land‑use map, implementation matrix and a planned timeline for planning commission comment in July and final adoption by the board in August.
Ryan Smalley of Envision presented a high‑level overview of the Vision 2050 master plan update, describing a year‑long process of stakeholder interviews, 23 jurisdictional subcommittees and two waves of public outreach that produced a draft plan in May. Smalley said the plan organizes recommendations into six focus areas (housing; quality of life; transportation; economic development; workforce; government efficiency) and includes a parcel‑level future land use map and a thoroughfare plan to guide future infrastructure and grant applications.
Planning director David Radacci told the board the plan was before the planning commission and staff expected comments in July with a goal of returning to the commissioners in August for final adoption. Commissioners praised the broad engagement and noted the county’s last comprehensive plan dated from 1960, stressing the regional and local coordination embedded in the draft.
