Fairview plans Aug. 1 drive-through back-to-school bash with One Church Home and United Way

Mister Ross reminded the board that the city’s Back-to-School Bash will be Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at City Hall (drive-through style), and said businesses or individuals that want to participate should contact his office (rross@fairview-tn.org, (615) 310-0255). He noted the city’s emergency-communication subscriber list (3,836 text subscribers and 1,951 email subscribers) and provided sign-up instructions (text fvalerts to 888777).
Commissioners said One Church Home, United Way and Tennessee Titans are partnering on the drive; last year the program distributed about 488 backpacks and the city hopes to increase donations. Mister Ross requested donations of pencils, crayons, notebook paper (wide and college ruled) and disinfectant wipes, and asked that supplies be delivered by the Monday before the event so staff have time to prepare. Commissioners also described options for businesses to set up tents and distribute supplies from their own tents during the event if they bring supplies for distribution that day.
The roundtable also included recognition of a new ACE Hardware grand opening and a request to keep Fairview clean; no action items were taken beyond the logistics and community outreach for the August event.
