Student points of pride: Lakeview and James Morris students recognized
Summary
At the June 11 meeting the Board recognized James Morris fourth-grader Micah Barney for a writing award and heard a report from incoming FFA president Rebecca Furlong about Lakeview High School activities.
The Board acknowledged student achievements during the ‘‘Points of Pride’’ section and heard a student report. Holly Torrant, a Grade 4/5 ELA teacher at James Morris School, recognized fourth-grader Micah Barney as a Top Select winner in asap!'s Celebration of Young Writers; Ms. Barney read her award-winning poem titled “Music.”
Rebecca Furlong, the incoming 2026–2027 FFA president at Lakeview High School, thanked the Board for accommodating a schedule change and delivered a report on student activities at the high school. The Board moved Ms. Furlong’s report earlier on the agenda to accommodate her schedule.
