The Midvale City Planning and Zoning Commission approved a preliminary subdivision on April 22 that separates a 0.504‑acre site at 7689 S Center Square into 12 lots and associated common area to allow individual ownership of the previously proposed 12 townhome units. Staff said the plat complies with Chapter 16.02 (preliminary subdivision requirements) and TOD lot size standards (MMC 17‑7‑8.4(A)).
The staff report notes the City Council previously approved a zoning setback amendment and the partial right‑of‑way vacation for Center Square on March 3, 2026, with the property transfer recorded with the Salt Lake County Recorder’s Office on April 7, 2026. No public comments were recorded at the preliminary subdivision hearing. Commissioner Candace Tippetts moved to approve the preliminary subdivision; Commissioner Candice Erickson seconded and the Commission voted 5‑0 to approve.
Approval was conditioned on findings included in the staff packet that the project meets the subdivision and TOD lot size requirements; the item moves forward in the project permitting and recordation process.
