Unified Fire Authority briefs Midvale council on new battalion, recruit class and recent deployment

Chief Nathan Kay of the Unified Fire Authority briefed the Midvale City Council during its Aug. 5 meeting. He said UFA created a fourth battalion and that the two Midvale stations are part of the new battalion 14. He also reported that recruit camp 60 started "yesterday with 24 new recruits," and updated the council on recent deployments: his federal task force deployed to New Mexico to assist flood response on July 9 and returned July 20.
Mayor Dustin Gettel asked whether Midvale firefighters were involved in the Millcreek fire and whether lessons could be applied locally. Chief Kay said UFA will conduct a large after-action review and that he will provide findings at a future meeting. The briefing was informational; no council action was requested or taken on the report.
