Princeton City Council on Monday approved three resolutions to fund street and drainage work across the city, awarding a $578,073.50 contract and a $274,731 motor-fuel-tax-funded contract to Advanced Asphalt and a $142,187 contract to Wright Excavating Inc. for Church Street drainage improvements.
Teresa, speaking for city staff, said the annual street program includes funding from the city's 0.25 percent sales tax and that approximately $146,000 of the $578,073.50 award will go to the El Lawn Cemetery roadway. She also explained that the motor-fuel-tax projects fit the fund's parameters but one item exceeded the estimate by about $15,000 and will require a supplemental resolution. The Church Street drainage project had three bids; the lowest was disqualified as incomplete, leaving Wright Excavating's $142,186.07 as the successful bid. Mayor (S2) said, "we appreciate that Wright Excavating is right here in Princeton, and their local people, so we appreciate the quality work that they do."
All three resolutions passed by roll call with council members voting aye. The measures authorize the city to proceed with construction and any required budget amendments tied to the supplemental motor-fuel-tax item.
