The Board of Zoning Appeals on July 23 approved a variance (ZR20260629) allowing a 13-square-foot wall sign on the second floor of a historic building at 120 South Walnut Street for a FASTSIGNS tenant serving a bank tenant. Jamie Kreindler, senior zoning planner, said the building's historic limestone and fenestration prevent placing the sign on the tenant's first-floor lease space and that staff found the three variance criteria met.
Leila Taylor, speaking for the petitioner, described the request as a sign placement "where other signs at this location in the years past have been previously located" and said the design avoids damaging historic materials. The board adopted staff findings and approved the petition with the condition that the approval allows a 13-square-foot wall sign at that location for the tenant and future users of that tenant space; the motion passed 4–0.
