Carlin council consolidates insurance accounts, switches agent to LP Insurance

The council unanimously approved switching the city's insurance agent to Tina Peterson of LP Insurance, consolidating management of existing coverage lines (liability, workers' compensation, medical/dental/vision) under a single agent.
Mayor Kinney explained this would not change policies with POOL/PACT, only the broker representing the city. "This would not save the city money but would simplify things by having everything under one broker," Kinney said. Tina Peterson said LP Insurance is already handling the city's medical, dental and vision plans and is in the renewal process for a July 1 effective date. Joel Nalley moved to switch agents; Brandon Keller seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Council members emphasized the change is administrative and that LP Insurance's municipal experience could help with risk management practices and notifications to avoid lapses in coverage.
