Anna Penola, the building inspector, described a recent catastrophic failure of a roll-up door at the old fire hall and recommended a bi-annual maintenance plan with Elko Overhead Door LLC to prevent future failures. Penola said the bracing had broken and that Elko Overhead Door's annual quote was $3,600, which she characterized as "pennies compared to a new door." Councilmembers discussed whether to approve a contract now or add a line item to future budgets; Mayor Kinney suggested funding it now and including it in subsequent budgets.
Penola also proposed a bi-annual pest-control agreement for city buildings, parks and concession stands; council discussed existing coverage and budgeting, and identified Elko Pest Control as the lowest responsible bidder at $765. Lyndsie Whigham moved to approve both agreements; Denise Taylor seconded and the council unanimously approved both actions.
Staff indicated the maintenance plans will be tracked in building and utility budgets going forward.
