City Manager Richard Braithwaite presented the Oak Street lift station as a $7,006,675 project that will require significant outside funding. Braithwaite said the city has applied for a $5 million congressional grant and for a loan from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection; the city's estimated cash requirement is $1,719,230 assuming a 20% grant match, and staff do not expect construction to begin until April 2028.
Braithwaite said the city has paid roughly $287,436 to DOWL for design work and that completing 90% design will leave a small remaining balance for invoices; he said $20,000 to $30,000 should cover near-term invoices but $200,000 would be safer if the grant moves quickly. Mayor Kinney said he had discussed the project while in Washington with congressional staff and provided a ponds tour to an aide.
