City Manager Richard Braithwaite recommended the council appoint Eide Bailly as the auditor for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, estimating a fee between $70,000 and $74,000 plus travel and administrative charges and a 5% technology fee. He noted the state approves only three auditors for government entities, and many jurisdictions have taken 60–90 days beyond deadlines due to staffing and rule changes.
Councilmember Denise Taylor moved to appoint Eide Bailly; Joel Nalley seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously to approve. Staff must send a signed letter to the State Department of Taxation by mid‑May to designate the auditor. Melinda Harris, city clerk, told the council staff has worked well with Eide Bailly despite shortages.
