Mayor: Moab seeks $3M for water tank; federal/state decisions expected in July

Moab’s mayor told the council on May 26 that the city submitted a federal appropriations request for $3,000,000 to support a water-tank project and has been asked to apply to the state Division of Water Resources as well.
"We asked for $3,000,000, which is similar to what we asked CIB," the mayor said, noting that he expected to know whether federal funding was included in the appropriations bill in July. He said that if federal appropriations and state funding both materialize, the city could adjust its local matching contribution.
The mayor also briefed council on a recent Department of Energy infrastructure visit and on water-supply matters raised at a recent Grand Water & Sewer Service Agency meeting, including Kins Lake inspections and proposals to list gallons used on water bills to help customers better understand usage. Councilmembers indicated they would continue coordination with county and state partners as needed.
