The MARC to host Smithsonian traveling exhibit 'Voices and Votes' June 8–Aug. 7

The MARC will host the Smithsonian traveling exhibition "Voices and Votes: Democracy in America" from June 8 through Aug. 7, the city announced at its May 26 council meeting.
"This summer, the MARC is gonna be hosting a traveling Smithsonian exhibition," said Kelly, the staff member presenting the department update. Kelly said the exhibit focuses on history and democratic processes, and will include a companion local installation called Community Voices featuring donated and loaned items from Moab residents.
Staff outlined public programs tied to the exhibit: a free opening reception Monday, June 8 (4–6 p.m.), a public-speaking workshop at the Grand County Public Library led by Celia Alario and SunCivics, a story-slam event, and on-site docent tours. Kelly also described a restored phone booth at The MARC where visitors can record or hear community stories; staff plan to archive or air selections after the exhibit closes.
Partners named by staff include the Utah Humanities Council, Utah Museum of Fine Arts and other local cultural organizations. Kelly said the exhibit and most programming will be free and that The MARC will operate on altered summer hours (Mon–Wed 9 a.m.–4 p.m., Thurs 9 a.m.–7 p.m., Sun 1 p.m.–4 p.m.).
