Resident urges policy change after police issued parking warnings at polling site

"Our San Luis PD showed up in force ... We should not allow this to happen again," Allen said, adding enforcement tied up several officer vehicles during the event.
Council members acknowledged the concern. A council member said staff and the city attorney have already begun coordinating with the police department and county officials to be more proactive about parking at polling places so voters do not receive warnings. The council indicated staff will conduct a debrief and follow up with police to reduce the risk that enforcement practices will be read as voter suppression.
