The Senate committee recorded a series of confirmations and reappointments. Senator Berry moved to "advise and consent" on Director Brad White's matter and the committee responded with aye votes, with the chair recording the result. The committee then introduced Kenneth Jeffrey "Jeff" Smith of Pontotoc as a new appointee to the Mississippi Motor Vehicle Commission; Smith said he has been a car dealer for more than 40 years and that he was "honored to be able to... serve in this role." Senator Parks moved to advise and consent for Smith and the committee answered "aye."
The committee also moved to advise and consent on the reappointment of William J. Van Devinder to the Commercial Transportation Division Appeals Board (noting he had filed the required statement of economic interest) and on the reappointment of Renata Tracy McGowan to the Motor Vehicle Commission for a four-year term through June 30, 2029. Both motions were approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition during the session.
