The Mississippi Senate approved House Bill 515, a technical bill clarifying that radiologist assistants may discuss initial results with radiologists and communicate initial findings to other health-care providers. Senator Bridal presented the measure and described it as aligning the law with long-standing practice.
"This bill is a technical bill to make sure the law complies with what is the long standing practice, and that is that a radiologist assistant can discuss with a radiologist the results of supports and can tell other health care advisors at least what the initial results of a test are," Senator Bridal said. He recommended use of the morning roll call to record votes.
Senators raised no substantive questions on the bill during presentation. The clerk recorded individual votes on request of the sponsor; a handful of senators were recorded as voting "no," but the motion and subsequent approval of the bill carried under the Senate's voting rules. The bill's sponsor said the change is technical and intended to reflect existing practice rather than create a new scope of practice.
The Senate then moved on to other calendar items; no amendments to House Bill 515 were offered during the session.
