Neighbors press board on traffic, sight-lines and safety at hearing for 352 Monmouth Road proposal

Neighbors who live adjacent to 352 Monmouth Road raised repeated safety and traffic questions during the public portion of the hearing, telling the board that the driveway onto County Route 537 is narrow, has limited sight lines and has been the scene of prior crashes.
"I have a question for mister Farrell. Is it single cars, or do they get busted when you have a group therapy, or is it always single cars?" asked James Neukum, a resident near the proposed site, describing multiple close calls he said he'd witnessed entering and exiting the driveway. Neukum urged the board to consider accident history and roadway sight-lines during its deliberations.
Applicant witnesses said group arrivals would most often be single cars and that staff would not release keys to someone under the influence; they also noted that routine protocols and a proposed site plan could address access and parking concerns. The board's professionals advised that traffic, sight-lines, lighting and driveway geometry are appropriate issues for site-plan review and recommended the applicant file a full site plan if the board approved the variance.
