Councilman Bartholomew moved that the council suspend the appointment of Mister Rick Krogb from his position as commissioner on the Bluffton Township Fire District Board of Commissioners, "as a result of the actions he took in relation to a pending investigation of matters related to the Bluffton Township Fire District." The motion stated the suspension is effective immediately and will continue "until such time as the investigation is declared to be completed or until such time as a permanent fire chief is hired, whichever occurs last." The chair recorded the motion and asked for a second.
The motion was seconded by Vice Chairman Tabernick, who said, "I'll 2nd it." The council voted by show of hands; the chair announced that the two people online voted yes and that the vote was unanimous. No further public discussion or explanatory detail about the underlying investigation was provided in the recorded caucus remarks. The suspension was announced as business coming out of executive session and was implemented by the caucus at the reconvened meeting.
