Beaufort County Council considered and approved ordinances authorizing the abandonment of multiple drainage easements.
Council discussed Ordinance 2025/23 (drainage easement tied to TMS R5100070000116000) and another easement affecting two parcels on Saint Helena (TMS R3003500A00040000 and R3003500A00050000). Councilmembers clarified that one abandonment was located on the Hilton Head side of the county and another was tied to a Saint Helena Island locality where only some property owners had previously granted easements; because neighboring owners did not participate, the county proposed abandoning the easement.
Council motioned, seconded and approved the abandonments by unanimous vote during the caucus. Staff indicated that the items had been vetted in committee and that staff could answer technical questions if needed.
