Council members expressed concern about limited progress on master plan revisions and affordable housing-related tasks following the retirement of the borough planner, identified in the meeting only as 'John.'
Several councilmembers observed that John, who they said was focused on affordable housing, retired roughly three months earlier and that they had not seen substantial progress on the master plan components tied to that work. Council liaison (S6) and the Chair (S2) agreed to contact the planning consultant Burgess for an update and to determine Burgess’s intentions; they said they would report back at the January meeting.
Council discussed options if Burgess does not propose next steps, including issuing an RFP for planning services. One member noted that Sean Moranski has moved to a private firm (Langan) and others suggested potential planners (Darlene Green) to consider. The council did not authorize new contracts during the meeting but tasked the Chair and liaison with outreach to clarify the consultant’s status and next steps.
