Borough engineer Tom reported the ADA ramps on Central Avenue have been completed and said he will contact the county to install crosswalk striping and warning signs. "The ADA ramps on Central Avenue were completed, so the next step would be to get the county to put the crosswalks in and the typical warning signs," Tom said.
Council members expressed particular concern about a crossing near the Exxon station where children are dropped off for school. Tom said the borough had been responsible for certain sidewalk and ramp work because the county limits its paving contract responsibility to face-of-curb, and that the paving contractor DLS had failed to complete the agreed ramp work. "DLS just whiffed on it," Tom said, and council members urged follow-up with the county and the contractor to ensure safe crossing options and to consider asking schools to relocate pickup points if necessary.
The council asked the engineer to follow up with the county and report back about when striping and final ramp work will be completed.
