Council considers dog-park site near Chestnut community garden but flags parking and easement issues
Summary
A council member proposed exploring a small, fenced dog park adjacent to the Chestnut community garden; members noted parking constraints, a sewer easement and that a nonstructural, wood-chip play area could be feasible and should be discussed during the budget process.

A council member raised an inquiry about creating a small dog park near the Chestnut community garden and described walking the site with borough staff. "I thought a good spot might be on the other side of the community garden," the council member said, and suggested using the nearby playground parking (20to 30 spaces) with a short walk to the fenced dog area.
Engineers and other members noted there is a sewer easement across the site and that any dog park should be nonstructural (wood chips and fencing). The council asked for sketches or a partial design to be brought to the January meeting and said the idea would be revisited in the budget cycle.
