Council President Boyce introduced Ordinance 12-85-25, a first reading that would amend municipal fees for use of the Old Tappan Golf Course. "It's a 5% change," Boyce said, adding the increase is intended to cover higher labor and fertilizer costs and to create a new family designation that covers a couple and up to two juniors, with differentiated pricing for out-of-town residents.
Council members questioned whether the fee change would cover operational costs and how the course compares with other municipal courses. Boyce and course management said the course has been profitable since the borough contracted with an outside manager in 2020, and membership is approximately a 50/50 split of in-town and out-of-town players. The ordinance was adopted on first reading and scheduled for final consideration at the borough's advertised December hearing, with public comment to be accepted at that time.
