Councilman Markley presented enrollment figures for students coming from recent developments: 19 in 2023, 42 in June 2024, 58 in June 2025 and 69 as of Oct. 31, 2025. He said that of those children, 28 currently require special services — "that's almost 41 percent" of the new-development cohorts — and noted the fiscal and programmatic implications for the school system.
Markley also updated the council on Northern Valley regional high school (NVOT) improvements: a new turf soccer field with field‑hockey lines, added netting, a new sidewalk for pedestrian safety and spectator bleachers. He said the NVOT turf project is expected to be completed by Christmas and that the schools are moving forward on a preliminary study for expanding classroom footprint at TBD with expected ground-breaking in June 2026.
The council discussed capacity and service costs; Markley said the grammar school is at near capacity and that additional classroom space is being planned.
