Ryan Seagold (20 Country Squire) thanked the council for approving a temporary road closure for Halloween, saying families felt safer and children could play with fewer vehicle hazards. "It was fantastic," Seagold said of the Halloween closure and said parents reported it as a successful safety measure.
Seagold also raised an ongoing school-crossing safety concern at Olde Pan Road and Herrick Drive, where he said cars speed and drivers sometimes pass on the shoulder, creating risks for crossing guards and children. He described an instance of nearly being hit by drivers on phones. Council members, including the mayor and police representatives, said they would discuss signage and patrol options with the county and the police chief to identify feasible traffic-calming or enforcement steps.
Council acknowledged the trade-offs for delivery services and traffic flow but said the police chief would be asked to review options before the next school-period peak.
