Resident Joe Cirillo told the council he believes a dog park would enhance quality of life for condo owners and single-family households and could increase property appeal. "The best surface for dog park is either grass, natural grass, or wood chips or mulch," Cirillo said, adding that the borough already produces mulch that could be repurposed.
Cirillo suggested locating the park near Stone Park's pickleball courts and emphasized being mindful of slopes and drainage. Council members said they would check insurance coverage (the joint insurance fund) and asked staff to prepare a concept plan and cost estimate ahead of budget season. The mayor invited Cirillo to continue engagement with staff and noted that, if the council chooses to proceed, the cost would be considered in the 2026 municipal budget.
Council discussed operations and enforcement—signage, fenced gates, bag dispensers and self-policing by users were noted as typical controls. No formal action was taken; staff was asked to return with a schematic and preliminary cost numbers.
