Adriana Nava updated the council on the Gomez Park project, showing photos of the construction site and explaining scope additions and cost increases driven by demolition, stormwater improvements and other site work. She said the project is supported by a $5,700,000 grant and that the requested change order (Change Order No. 1 to 3 Peaks Construction) totals $343,279.75; the project contingency is $550,240 and staff asked whether Measure P funds could be used to cover the overages.
"The contingency amount was 550,240, and the change order amount is $343,002.79 75, which is within the allocated project budget," Adriana said, and she explained that some items were removed or shifted to city procurement to save costs. After discussion about scope, priorities and community involvement, the council voted to use Measure P for the contingency and approved the change order by council motion (recorded vote 5‑0 in the meeting transcript).
