City: RV project along highway must provide commercial space before occupancy

Staff updated the commission on the RV project along the highway and said the developer is nearing completion but has not shown the required commercial space that the city code requires for the commercially zoned site. Kevin told commissioners the project team is currently holding off occupancy until the certificate of occupancy shows compliance with commercial‑space requirements.
"They're supposed to complete the project a 100% before they allow anybody," Kevin said, adding that the project is in a commercial highway zone and must provide retail or other commercial space to meet the city's conditions. He reported the city is getting about five calls a week from interested parties but is enforcing the occupancy condition until the requirement is verified.
Staff characterized the absence of demonstrated commercial space as a major outstanding issue for occupancy; no permit modification or relief was recorded at the meeting.
