Planning Board recommends City Commission adopt update to 10-Year Water Supply Plan

The Lake Worth Beach Planning & Zoning Board on April 1 recommended the City Commission adopt Ordinance 2026-04, an update to the City's 10-Year Water Supply Facilities Work Plan required under Section 163.3177(6)(c) of the Florida Statutes. Lance Lilly of Chen Moore and Associates told the Board the update is required within 18 months of the South Florida Water Supply Plan update and, despite its title, the work plan is updated on a five-year cycle.
"The 10-Year Water Supply Facilities Work Plan is required by the State of Florida to be updated by the City within 18 months of the South Florida Water Supply Plan update," Lilly said. Staff emphasized the Board's role is advisory (local planning agency) and that the update does not change the City's water service area but includes revised population projections, water conservation measures, well status (some wells abandoned), and capital improvement items.
The Board voted unanimously to recommend adoption after a motion by Mark Humm and a second from Darryl Shatto. The recommendation will be considered by the City Commission at a subsequent meeting. The Board's action was based on the staff report and testimony at the hearing.
