Staff reports traffic-signal proposal and palm-tree pruning work at Riverdale Estates

City staff told commissioners there is a proposed traffic signal at Riverdale Lane and Highway 111 tied to nearby development and that red curbing has been installed; staff and the property manager said palm trees have been pruned and some scheduled removals planned.
David Razzo, senior management analyst for the City of Indio, updated the commission on follow-up items from the March meeting relating to Riverdale Estates. He said a proposed development south of Riverdale Lane could prompt installation of a traffic signal at the Highway 111 intersection, and staff worked with Public Works to add red curbing east of Highway 111 to improve visibility when exiting Riverdale.
Razzo and Brian Halverson (director of community development) said palm-tree pruning and removals have been coordinated with property management (Keritas) and an arborist; photographs shown to the commission depicted pruned and removed palms. Staff advised residents to use the 'My Indio' app to report overgrown landscaping so code officers can determine whether plantings are on private or public property and take appropriate action.
