Doctor Mitchell identified the candidates as Dr. Heather Hill for principal of Saunders Elementary (Doctor of Education, Liberty University; assistant principal at Katherine Johnson Elementary), Dennis Marston for assistant principal at Huntington Middle School (M.S. in Educational Leadership, Capella University; administrative associate, Norfolk City Public Schools), Wendy Maya Cole for assistant principal at Norwood Meadows Elementary (M.A., University of Virginia; reading specialist, Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools), Kishonna Smallwood for assistant principal at Katherine Johnson Elementary (M.A.T., Christopher Newport University; teacher at Jenkins Elementary), Dr. Maya Tubins for director of middle school leadership (doctorate in education, North Central University; interim director of middle school leadership) and Dr. Dara White for director of elementary school leadership (Ph.D., Old Dominion University; principal, Newsome Park Elementary). The motion to approve the superintendent's personnel recommendations was moved by a board member and seconded; Miss Buffalo called the roll and recorded unanimous support (Hunter: For; Searle's Law: For; Amon: For; Harris: For; Best: For).
