Lake Bronson reviews attempted cyber intrusion; insurance to cover forensic costs

At the May 18 meeting, Mayor B. Schmiedeberg reported that someone attempted to hack the city computer. Clerk Sandra Lund said the machine was removed from the office, sent for analysis and cleaning, and that the League of Minnesota Cities insurance will reimburse the city’s costs. The forensic report concluded no data was accessed.
Schmiedeberg said Wikstrom's and Todd's Electric had inspected the city siren and Ottertail would review their findings. The cyber‑incident and equipment inspections were discussed during the council roundtable; the council did not record any required public notification beyond the incident report in the minutes.
Councilors approved city claims and fire-department claims following the report; the meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
