Board approves package of policy updates, MOAs and renewals in consent actions

Items approved included a first reading to update the special education policy and procedures manual; discussion and approval of per-diem reimbursement language for board member training; student expression policy language aligning to the student code of conduct; MOAs with Teach for America and Appalachian Children's Home interagency agreements; a Head Start funding partnership for 2026-27; the emergency hire for a chemistry and physical science teacher; ParentSquare renewal; EBSCO accounting software for FY27; and the renewal of Tyler Technologies hosting fees.
A board member noted a posting error for one item (correction from "elementary" to "middle high" for a Steel Reese Foundation item) and one board member recorded an opposed vote on the school resource officer agreement. Otherwise motions carried as presented.
